1867  Le Moniteur acadien first publishes. It is the first (weekly) French-language newspaper in the Maritimes.

1974  Pierre Elliott Trudeau wins the federal election, allowing the Liberals to turn a minority government into a majority. Trudeau will institute the controversial Wage and Price Controls, which he initially opposed.

1991  Former Christian Brother Joseph Burke gets only 25 months in prison for multiple abuse of young boys in his care at Mount Cashel Orphanage (Newfoundland).

2016  Exxon Mobil found guilty of concealing information and misleading the public on the effect of their products on climate. Fined only $ 7 billion.

2030  Last weekly newspaper in Canada ceases to produce print edition. Online local publications thrive, with massive community participation.
